Policy: Iryna Tsybukh, known as Cheka, was a paramedic serving in northeastern Ukraine when Russia launched a ground offensive in the area in May.

The 25-year-old was praised for saving the lives of many soldiers and for risking his own life to evacuate the wounded from the front line.

While serving at the front last year, Tsybukh wrote a resignation letter to be published if she was killed. It is now shared in social media.

At the funeral in St. Michael’s Cathedral in Kyiv, hundreds had turned up in embroidered Ukrainian national costumes. The coffin was draped in a Ukrainian flag.
