BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, DEC 2 – The Unity Charity Association has handed over donations totaling $12,000 to eight non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and four schools in the country at the annual donation ceremony held at Hotel Mulia, today.
The donation was presented by the President of the Unity Charity Association, Jake Goh Kiat Hing to the association and school.
Earlier, Jake Goh Kiat Hing during his speech expressed his gratitude to all partners for the successful support of NGO partners, school cooperation and the media’s dedication in helping to spread their message.
“Every lion leap during our show reflects the strength of our community, working together to bridge gaps and create opportunities for those who need them,” he added.
Also present to witness the event were members of the community, representatives from NGOs and representatives of the school to celebrate the collective effort to support the development of public and community welfare.
Recipients of the donation include the Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Center, the Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA), SMARTER Brunei, the Orphans’ Fund under JAPEM, the Disabled Children’s Organization (CACA), the Association of People in Wheelchairs and Disabled Members (PAPDA), the Brunei Darussalam National Association of the Visually Impaired (BDNAB) and the Hearing Impaired Association (OKP).
In addition, schools that received donations were Chung Hwa Secondary School in the capital, Chung Hua Secondary School in Kuala Belait, Chung Ching Secondary School in Seria and St George’s School.
The donation was generated through the association’s annual lion dance performance during Chinese New Year, a vibrant tradition that not only celebrates cultural heritage but also raises vital funds to support those in need.
The funds are used to help disadvantaged families, schools and NGOs in their ongoing efforts to improve the lives of vulnerable individuals in the community.
