BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, NOV 28 – With his skill in organizing strategy in chess, Awangku Hariri bin Pengiran Hira, was announced as the champion in the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) Primary School Chess Club Competition which was held at Berkenan school yesterday.
Present to present prizes and certificates of participation to 20 students who accepted the challenge in the competition was the Principal of YSHHB Primary School, Hajah Mariam binti Haji Ladi.
Among other things, the purpose of the competition is to give students exposure to the game of chess in addition to training creative thinking skills and motivating students to play chess.
The competition, which was organized for the first time together with the school and the Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG), is expected to strengthen the relationship between the PIBG and the school.
The competition was led by the teaching staff of the school, Mohammad Khoirunnazhiim bin Mohd Daud and Pengiran Hira bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Omar.
