TWO robbers who targeted four corner shops within half an hour have had their sentences reduced.

On Monday Lewis Creighton was jailed for seven years and four months after admitting committing the robberies armed with a machete in Lowton, Leigh and Atherton on August 14.

His accomplice, Joshua Anderson, who pleaded guilty to committing the robberies, received six years.

But at Bolton Crown Court yesterday both men appeared via a video link from Forest Bank prison to be told by Judge Timothy Clayson that they are to have a year each knocked off their sentences.

The judge told Creighton, aged 27, of no fixed address and Anderson, aged 19, of Cox Way, Atherton: “Having reflected on the matter it seems to me the figures I took before giving credit for guilty pleas were a little too high.”

Creighton and Anderson banged the table and cheered as they were given their new sentences of six years and four months and five years respectively.
