But who is Samia Longchambon married to and when did she join Coronation Street? Here’s everything you need to know about the Beat the Chasers contestant.

Who is Samia Longchambon married to?

Samia married property developer Matt Smith in 2005, with the pair going on to welcome a baby girl, Freya, in 2009.

They later announced their split in 2011, with Samia reverting to her maiden surname of Ghadie.

In January 2013, Samia competed in the eighth series of ITV’s Dancing On Ice, partnered with French professional skater Sylvain Longchambon.

The pair were eliminated in week eight, but struck up a romance during the Corrie star’s time on the show, going on to date and eventually marry in 2016.

Samia and Sylvain have one child together – a son named Yves, born in September 2015.

When did Samia Longchambon join Coronation Street?

After previously appearing on Coronation Street as an extra, Samia joined the long-running ITV soap as Maria Sutherland full-time in 2000.

Since then, she has been at the centre of some of the cobbles’ biggest storylines, including giving birth to a stillborn baby and more recently, running for local council.

During her time in Weatherfield, Maria has been married three times, to Liam Connor, Gary Windass and also to Pablo Duarte, a gay Argentinian hairdresser she helped get a visa to the UK.

As well as acting on Corrie, Samia revealed in 2018 that she was studying from home to become a qualified reflexologist, after becoming interested in the practice while she was pregnant.

Speaking at the time, she explained: “I’ve always been interested in reflexologies and holistic therapies and things. And it’s just given me a focus, a break from my own head.”
