ASPI Executive Director Peter Jennings says upgraded tanks will certainly be a source of significant protection.

Australia has committed to purchasing more than 120 tanks and other armored vehicles from the US as part of a major upgrade of the Army’s fleet.

“I think it’s better that we have them than we don’t,” Mr Jennings told Sky News Australia.

“They are certainly a source of significant protection for infantry soldiers wherever tanks are deployed.”
