A man who was “frothing at the mouth” as he assaulted a holidaymaker has been jailed. Barry Houghton’s eyes had very large pupils and he looked like he had been “on drugs”, a court heard.
Llandudno Magistrates Court heard today that a confrontation occurred near the Glendower pub at the Hafan y Mor holiday park in Chwilog, Pwllheli. Houghton, 49, who appeared via video link from HMP Berwyn, pleaded guilty to common assault and was jailed for four weeks.
Prosecutor Rhian Jackson said the victim Joshua Burt had been on holiday with his family on May 21. They included his father, uncle and aunt and cousins aged 12 and 17.
A man seemed to think someone was looking at him and started shouting at Mr Burt. He came right up to him, touching his forehead with his own.
The court heard the man, who was the defendant Houghton, said the words “fat little p****” and that he would “fill him in”. Witnesses said he had “white froth around the lips” and it looked like he was on drugs.
Both parties left but after Mr Burt went to the Spar shop there was another confrontation. Houghton told Mr Burt: “I’ll f****** kill you.”
Tudor Owen, defending, said the assault amounted to a push but was unpleasant. Magistrates chairman Alwen Davies told Houghton: “It was a really unpleasant incident.”
She jailed him for four weeks for common assault but it would be concurrent with the three-year term the defendant, of Dinam Road, Caergeiliog, is already serving for an unrelated offence of possession of Class A drugs.
