6 BSKA karate athletes obtained black belts

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, NOV 22 – Another year of proud achievements as six Brunei Shotokan Karate Association (BSKA) Sports School athletes earned black belts in karate recently.

After many years of dedication and hard training, Awangku Mohd Khalil bin Pengiran Kamarul Zaman, Awang Mohammad Zul Fahmi bin Roslan, Awang Mohd Sawalal bin Hamdan, Dayang Noor Batrisyia Aribah Hannazsha binti Suhardi, Awang Nur Saifullah Hazami bin Salim and Dayang Syakirah binti Haji Ibrahim has succeeded in their tests and obtained a diploma for the first Dan black belt or 1st And Black Belt.

Before undergoing the test, the athletes always attended a training session under the guidance of the head instructor, Sensei Haji Mohammad Ishak bin Haji Abu Bakar. These sessions focus on refining the basics and perfecting their karate technique.

The scoring event held at the Sports School lasted for three hours and started at 8pm. This assessment is not just a symbol seniority through the rank of black belt but also proves the discipline, growth and experience of the athlete throughout his karate career both as a practitioner and as an individual.

Grading was handled by Shihan Pengiran Sabri bin Pengiran Mohammad and Shihan Dr Haji Kamaruddin bin Dato Seri Paduka Haji Talib who are both highly respected figures in the karate community.
