High pressure is sitting over the Central Plains. With sinking motion associated with this weather feature, we get to enjoy mild, sunshiny skies during the day and crisp, clear nights.
Tonight, temperatures will drop mainly to the lower and middle 50s.
Sweater weather will turn to shorts and t-shirts Thursday afternoon. Highs will warm to the 70s with the 80s farther west.
While our weather is quiet, dry and comfortable, conditions will deteriorate in the Northeast Gulf of Mexico. Hurricane Helene is making plans for landfall in the Big Bend area of Florida. This will become a major hurricane.
Once it moves inland, it will interact with a low pressure system immediately to Kansas’ east. This will retrograde or track farther west. Unfortunate for us, we only get a sliver of this cloud cover with rain staying from mid-Missouri and points east.
Central and eastern Kansas will see an uptick in clouds Friday, Friday night and into Saturday before exiting. It will be a gorgeous weekend here across the Plains. Highs will warm from the 70s into the 80s.
Some temps will also flirt with the lower 90s before the next cold front sweeps through. This cold front Monday night comes through dry.
Winds will briefly increase announcing its arrival with a slight dip in temperatures. Not cool enough for frost yet. Another cold front slides through before the following weekend. It also looks dry.
