WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Crisis Center and the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence announced they are rebranding the 24/7 support service for victims of sexual and domestic violence.
The new name is SafeLine Kansas, and it now comes with a critical enhancement — a text line service.
SafeLine Kansas is a free, confidential and judgment-free helpline available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It offers emotional support, safety planning and information on local resources.
The new texting system allows victims to text “SAFE” to 847411 to connect to a trained advocate, which provides another option for those who may not feel safe speaking over the phone.
“This new text option is a game changer,” Tychelle Jones, Director of Outreach and Engagement of The Crisis Center, Inc., said in a news release. “For many survivors, especially those living with their abuser or in high-risk situations, a phone call isn’t always feasible. By offering a text-based service, we’re breaking down more barriers and making support more accessible for those who need it most.”
The original phone line — 1 (888) 363-2287 — remains available for those who prefer to speak directly with someone.
