The police propose to search, confiscate GISBH’s premises

KUALA LUMPUR, 26 SEPT – The police proposed search and seizure of premises related to GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) in Sabah and Sarawak after finding that the premises in question were no longer in operation.

Malaysian Police Chief, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) will provide full assistance to related agencies through existing laws and provisions in both states for the search action.

“PDRM has held a meeting with government agencies involved in the investigation of GISBH to examine the current situation of the operation of the organization’s premises in Sabah and Sarawak.

“Even if these premises are found to be non-operating, PDRM will continue to monitor to ensure that the individuals involved are identified and brought to justice,” he said in a statement today.

The meeting involved the Malaysian Ministry of Health, the Social Welfare Department, the Malaysian Islamic Development Department, the Malaysian Chemical Department, and the National Registration Department.

According to Razarudin, search and seizure actions in Sabah can be carried out in accordance with the Shariah Criminal Offenses Enactment 3/1995 and Section 16a of the Care Center Act 1993, while in Sarawak in accordance with Section 44 of the Syariah Criminal Procedure Ordinance (Sarawak) and Section 16a of the Care Center Act 1993.

In another development, Razarudin said the police had obtained a five-day remand extension, starting tomorrow until next Tuesday, against seven GISBH-related suspects who were detained under Section 12 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act (ATIPSOM) 2007.

Regarding the 10 police reports alleging that workers at the GISBH premises were not paid, he said that an investigation would be conducted to examine the prosecution that could be taken. – Named
