3 men were arrested for smuggling liquor and cigarettes

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, SEPT 27 – Three men suspected of carrying contraband through Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Bridge (SHOAS), on their way to Brunei-Muara District, were arrested recently.

As a result of the arrest, 25 bottles of liquor, 43 cartons of canned liquor and 100 cartons of cigarettes were found, which are believed to have been smuggled from neighboring countries.

The contraband was confiscated by members of Temburong Police Station, Royal Brunei Police Force (PPDB) and the case was reported at Bangar Police Station for investigation submission to the Royal Brunei Customs and Excise Department. Information has also been given to the Religious Enforcement Division, Temburong District Branch for further action.

The detention and confiscation is based on the information obtained.

The PPDB would like to remind the public not to get involved in criminal activities and break the laws of the country that only bring loss to themselves and their families. PPDB will always be active in efforts to eradicate and curb the activities of smuggling illegal goods in this country.
