EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey — This week’s NFL Thursday Night Football game features an intriguing matchup between one of the most exciting young quarterbacks in the league and a four-time MVP trying to recapture the magic. The Houston Texans travel to the Big Apple to face the New York Jets tonight on Prime Video at 8:15 p.m. Eastern.

TEXANS – JETS Matchup Preview
After leading Houston to the second round of the playoffs in 2023, quarterback C.J. Stroud has picked up right where he left off. Stroud has thrown for 1,948 yards and 11 touchdowns in his sophomore season. But he’ll be without his two top receivers on Thursday. Stefon Diggs tore his ACL against the Colts last week and is out for the season, and Nico Collins continues to recover from a hamstring injury he suffered on Oct. 6. It will be a huge test for Stroud and the league’s No. 7 offense. The Jets, despite their struggles, defend the pass very well, allowing 161 yards per game while giving up only six touchdowns through the air all season. Expect a heavy dose of Texans running back Joe Mixon.
The Jets, meanwhile, have lost all three games since interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich took over for the fired Robert Saleh. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has looked like a shadow of his former self through eight games, not being able to escape the rush like he used to and missing throws that were once routine. His reunion with wide receiver Davante Adams, a former teammate in Green Bay, has been inconsequential through their first two games together.
