BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 31 OCT – A total of 35 selected graduates from the Class of 2024 were celebrated in the 2024 Excellence Awards Ceremony in conjunction with the 10th Brunei Polytechnic (PB) Convocation Ceremony, which took place at Dewan Grand Cesar, Hotel Mulia, Berakas, today.
The nominated graduates are students from various programs under five PB schools, namely the School of Commerce, the School of Information and Communication Technology, the School of Science and Engineering, the School of Health Sciences and the School of Petrochemistry.
Present as the guest of honor was the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Fiscal), Pengiran Datin Seri Paduka Hajah Zety Sufina binti Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Sani, as Chairman of the PB Management Board.
Also present to witness the historic day for PB students was the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Xiao Jianguo, parents and family members of award recipients, sponsors, members of the PB Board of Directors .
The ceremony started with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat by Awang Muhammad Tsuufiy bin Haji Abdul Wahab.
At the ceremony, Acting Director of PB, Lim Kian Boon in his speech underlined, among other things, that this award reflects efforts in fostering a culture of excellence in line with PB’s core values, Taf-fa-wuq, which is the Arabic word for excellence.
The ceremony witnessed the presentation of awards to several categories such as the Best Student Award; Outstanding Academic Award; Outstanding Enrichment Activity Award; Innovation Award; and the People’s Republic of China Ambassador Award sponsored by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Brunei Darussalam.
While one newly introduced award is the Outstanding Employee Award which was presented by the guest of honor and TYT Xiao Jianguo.
The Best Student Award was given to Awang Mohammad Rayyan bin Haji Mohd Sufian, a student who has just received his Level 5 Diploma qualification in Business Studies (Marketing), School of Business, PB.
While Awang Mohammad Rayyan is also one of the 25 award recipients under the Excellent Academic Award category.
While the Ambassador Award of the People’s Republic of China, sponsored by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam, was also given to 23 students from 23 programs under PB.
The PB 2024 Excellent Award Ceremony also saw the official introduction of a new award category, the Outstanding Employee Award, where nine staff members were selected as recipients of the award.
Also presented at the ceremony were certificates of appreciation to the sponsors presented by Lim Kian Boon.
