BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 01 NOV- Two individuals were fined a compound fine of $100 each by the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) for throwing cigarette butts in a commercial building in Kampong Sengkurong on 30 October.
The individuals who have been identified are Mohammad Shamrullah bin Hamni and Nanda Aprisandi who were fined under the Miscellaneous Offenses (Amendment) Act 2021 and given seven days to pay the fine or face court action.
If convicted in court, fines range from $1,000 to $3,000 for a first offense and up to $9,000 or six months in prison for repeat offenses.
JASTRe also urges the public to keep the environment clean.
