Police arrest man, confiscate 18,000 horse pills

KOTA BHARU, 6 NOV – Police arrested a man and seized 18,000 horse pills weighing 2.2 kilograms estimated to be worth RM165,000 behind a school in Kampung Kota Jembal, here last Monday.

Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the 29-year-old suspect was arrested with a motorcycle in the village believed to be waiting for someone at 7:30pm.

He said when the suspect was examined, the police found a white plastic package in the body of his motorcycle and further inspection found that there were three yellowish packages containing 18,000 horse pills.

“We believe the suspect is waiting for his client to get the drug which is estimated to be used by 18,000 addicts.

“In addition to the drugs, the police also confiscated the motorcycle used by the suspect as well as RM1,500 in cash under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988,” he said in a press conference at the Kelantan Police Contingent Headquarters here today.

Mohd Yusoff said the suspect had seven previous drug-related records and was confirmed positive for drugs and was remanded for seven days starting yesterday until November 11 for further investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Following that, Mohd Yusoff said a total of 663 individuals between the ages of 17 and 65 were arrested in Op Tapis Bersepadu and Op Bersepadu Sempadan which started from October 29 until yesterday and confiscated various types of drugs estimated to be worth RM4.87 million.

Commenting on the involvement of young people in drugs and partying in Sungai Golok, Thailand, Mohd Yusoff said parents are asked to monitor their children’s movements, especially on weekends, because if they party in nightclubs, it is feared that they will be caught with the prohibited substance.

“Drugs may be added to drinks, food and vape liquid while at the entertainment premises in the border town, which aims to make them hypnotize and potentially make young people become addicts,” he said. – Named
