Woman finds engraved wedding band inside Kansas City thrift store

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WDAF) — A Missouri woman discovered a cherished item inside a thrift store find. She believes it was mistakenly donated and wants to return it to the family of its rightful owner.

A woman found an engraved wedding band at Savers, a thrift store off Barry Road in Kansas City, Missouri. Now, she wants to find the family it belongs to.

“It’s kind of romantic when you find something like this,” Carlie Goss said.

Goss thought she scored, buying a vintage bag for $3.99.

“It says it’s made in Western Germany,” Goss said. “It’s great quality. I know it’s old. it smells like cigarettes still.”

But Goss found the real treasure tucked inside the jewelry pouch – a gold ring.

Goss believes it’s a woman’s wedding band.

It’s engraved. The name Heinz is written on the inside. There’s also a date: 1932. A memory marked more than 90 years ago.

“It’s special because I think it brings you back to a time where flashy things and name brands and items didn’t really matter. And how big is your diamond and all those things? It was just a symbol of love,” Goss said. “I really hope I can find the family. If I can’t, I will treasure it.”

“I’d just love to see the ring find its original owner,” Holly Calderon, Savers Store manager, said. “That would be amazing.”

They receive donations, but she said they don’t see situations like this come down the aisle that often.

“I think that’s awesome that they’re trying to find who the ring belongs to,” Calderson said. “So, the company’s going to work through some social channels to try to help find the ring.”

Goss shared her own post on social media. It’s been shared more than 260 times. She’s hoping to get this treasure back in the hands of the family it belongs to.

If I had lost something like this and didn’t realize I had donated it, I would be so blessed and grateful to get it back, Goss said. “Because I’m sure no one in their right mind would donate something this special.”

If you know who this ring may belong to, email [email protected].
