5 Ohio cities make Best Retirement Towns for Middle Class list

When it comes to retirement, most people think of Florida, Arizona and other southern, sunny locations to plant their roots. But what about Ohio?

The Buckeye State is home to five of the best retirement towns in the U.S. for the middle class, according to a report from GoBankingRates.com. The report, “The Best Retirement Towns for the Middle Class in 2024,” ranked the top 30 towns for middle class retirees to live in based on a number of metrics, including annual cost of living, median household income, average home value and average social security benefits.

The five Ohio cities to make the list of top 30 are No. 17 Middleburg Heights, No. 18 Seven Hills, No. 20 Centerville, No. 27 Greenville and No. 28 Lyndhurst. What’s more, Greenville, Ohio – located about 50 minutes northwest of Dayton – has the lowest overall annual cost of living of all the cities on this list, at $30,173.
