BENGALS – RAVENS Matchup Preview
Fasten your seatbelts as this Nov. 7 matchup could be a high-scoring affair. The Ravens boast the league’s most potent offense, ranking No. 1 in rushing and No. 2 in passing while scoring 31 points a game. Jackson is having perhaps the best season of his career, throwing for 2,379 yards, 20 touchdowns and just two interceptions. Last week, running back Derrick Henry became the first player this season to surpass 1,000 yards on the ground and is averaging 116 yards per game. They’ll face a Bengals defense that’s been inconsistent all season but fare better against the run.
If the Ravens have a weakness, it’s their pass defense. The unit, however, rebounded nicely in a 41-10 win over the Broncos a week ago after an embarrassing effort against the Cleveland Browns the previous game. But they face a big test as Joe Burrow is no Bo Nix or Jameis Winston. The Cincinnati quarterback, now in his fifth year, is healthy again and putting up big numbers (249 passing yards per game, 20 TDs). His connection with wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase is as lethal as ever as the former LSU teammates have linked up on seven touchdowns. In addition, running back Chase Brown is coming off his first 100-yard game of the season. The Ravens defense is stingier against the run, giving up only 3.4 yards per carry, so expect Burrow to air it out.
