WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The overall drought picture across Kansas looks a little different after several inches of rain.
Last week, 3.92% of the state was in extreme drought, the areas shaded in red; 31.96% was in severe drought, the areas shaded in dark gold; and 76.84% was in moderate drought, the tan color.
This week, all the red is gone. The areas in severe drought dropped from 31.96% to 11.41% of the state, and the areas in moderate drought dropped from 76.84% to 53.69%
The areas that changed from tan to yellow, like Wichita, are now considered “abnormally dry.”
