MEXICO CITY, NOV 8 – Mexico found 11 bodies, including two minors, in a pickup truck abandoned on the side of the road in the southern capital of Guerrero state, local authorities said yesterday.
An anonymous tip tipped off authorities on Wednesday night and led to the discovery of the bodies of nine men and two women abandoned in the city’s Parador del Marques area, the Attorney General’s Office said in a statement.
A forensic team has been sent to the scene to identify the victim and an investigation into the murder is ongoing.
The victim is believed to be part of a group of 17 vendors who went missing two weeks ago, according to local media.
They were reported to be selling household goods in the community of El Epazote when they failed to be contacted later, prompting a search operation by the state Secretariat of Public Security, the National Guard and the military.
The army said on Tuesday that it would deploy operations, including special forces to find victims who are missing and suspected of being abducted by criminal gangs. Los Ardillos.
Los Ardillos is one of Guerrero’s most dangerous criminal groups, controlling the central part of the state, including Chilpancingo.
Guerrero has been plagued by violence for years due to drug trafficking and production in the state. – Xinhua
