As expected, we are starting Friday with widespread rainfall. Despite the coldest temperatures this morning being to the northwest, there will not be as much wintry weather in this part of the area.
There will be some embedded rumbles of thunder through the day but severe weather is not expected. There will also be some breaks in the rain at times but it will also be heavy at times too.
Clouds, the moisture, and a northeasterly breeze will keep high temperatures below average. Dress warm and drive safely today.
Rain continues through the evening but after dark, moisture will begin to lift out of Southwest Kansas. Showers keep getting pushed north and east through the night as an area of low pressure starts to lift over us.
Overnight lows will be near the freezing mark to the northwest again. There is a small chance that some snowflakes mix with the rain but there will still be more wet weather rather than wintry.
Most of the rain will be gone by the time many of us start our Saturday. There will still be a few showers that wrap back around to the north but it will not be as damp.
Milder temperatures return by the end of the weekend and pleasant conditions continue into the start of next week.
The next system sweeps through the Sunflower State between late Tuesday and early Wednesday. There will be a small chance for more moisture and it will cool mild highs back down closer to average.
