“In line with the theme of the Lepa Regatta event: a symbol of MADANI community unity, the event is one of Sabah’s unique heritage and attractions that is internationally renowned.
“This event plays an important role as a cultural binder and community unifier, strengthening identity and harmony among the Bajau community and other ethnicities,” he said in a statement here today.
He said the event attracted thousands of tourists from home and abroad and became an important platform to showcase the unique cultural heritage of the Bajau Laut community, including preserving the traditional Lepa-lepa boat-making skills passed down from generation to generation.
“We hope that this event will be a meaningful starting point for the development of Sabah’s tourism industry, making Semporna not only known for the beauty of its tropical islands and stunning sea world, but also as a vibrant and vibrant cultural center,” he added.
