Storm Track 3 Forecast: Winds increase Friday, another round of rain Monday

After a comfortable and mild Thursday, temperatures dip overnight but it will not be as chilly as it was this morning.  Winds will be light with high pressure tracking south of us, promoting a starry sky.

Storm Track 3 Forecast: Winds increase Friday, another round of rain Monday

Increasing winds from the south enable a nice warm up on Friday under a lot of sunshine.

Highs will be above average in the 60s throughout the state.

It will stay gusty Friday into Saturday ahead of a weak cold front.  This front tries to squeeze a few showers as it tracks across central Kansas on Saturday.

Clouds will increase over the weekend with more expected by Sunday.  The front settles across southern Kansas, stalls and then returns to the north as a warm front by Monday.  A rather strong storm system festers to our southwest, gathering moisture on its march overhead late Sunday into Monday.

Rain spreads across Kansas Sunday night into Monday morning. It will be heavy at times.

Rain will continue through the afternoon, gradually ending from south to north later in the day.

Rainfall potential from an inch or two looks likely with locally higher amounts.

Toward the end of Monday evening, colder air will work in behind this system.  We may see a wintry mix line up along the Colorado state line before the moisture quickly exits. Tuesday looks cool and dry.

There is another secondary low pressure system next Wednesday into Thursday.  Depending on the track, temperature and degree of moisture available, we may see rain in parts of Kansas and snow farther north and west.

Trends will need to be continued for the middle of next week.  Highs mid to late next week are significantly colder in the 30s and 40s.

Overnight lows will favor the teens to the lower 30s through the end of next week.  It will be a big change and shock to the system, so enjoy the warmth while it lasts right now!
