WATCH: Video shows burglary 'related' to Mahomes, Kelce cases

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WDAF) — More details are emerging in the Mahomes residence Loch Lloyd burglary.

Police are saying another burglary happened the day before Mahomes’ house was hit, and it resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars of jewelry being taken.

The location of the crime is just minutes from Travis Kelce’s house, which was hit shortly after the incident at Mahomes’ residence.

FOX4 obtained two exclusive videos of this incident. In the video, you see the moments thieves take over a Leawood home dressed in full hazmat suits.

In another stretch of the video, you see in the far-right corner one of the two crooks lying in the grass, playing watch out for the one on the inside doing damage after breaking a window to get in the home.

Thankfully, this family was not home at the time the criminals broke in.

“Well, I didn’t know about what happened in our neighborhood, but that’s scary if that happening in our neighborhood,” said a neighbor in the Leawood neighborhood.

“What’s the police doing about it, number one, and do we need to have more patrols or what to protect us?”

Police records show that the thieves made out with more than $500,000 worth of jewelry.

Due to the severity of the crime victims did not go on camera. However, they did say the two who spent 20 minutes inside their home also managed to steal a safe with two guns inside.

This burglary happened on October 5, just one day before the Mahomes’ house was hit and two days before Kelce’s house was hit.

In the days after, police told the victims that this was related to the crime that took place at Kelce’s house.

Police refused to answer directly, but did release a statement which reads:

“The Leawood Police Department follows up on all investigative leads, works with victims to solve open cases, and asks the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Leawood is consistently one of the safest cities in Kansas, and our officers provide daily patrols to ensure that safety is maintained – Leawood Police Department.”

A spokesperson also sent statistics to FOX4, which show that burglaries in the city of Leawood are down compared to the same time last year.

The FBI, according to TMZ, is assisting on both sides of the state line.

A police source also confirmed that a local department has increased surveillance at the home of another high-profile Chiefs player.
