Group pledges partnership with govt on security

ASIS International Chapter 206 Lagos has reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging its network of security professionals to advance security policies and enhance societal safety in the country.

The body made this known during its Annual General Meeting held in Lagos on Thursday.

A major highlight of the well-attended AGM was the election of new leaders.

The outgone Vice Chairman, Mr Adedeji Oduba, was elected as the new chairman, joined by Mr Olufemi Kayode as Vice Chairman, Mr Imeh Udofia as Secretary, and Ms Stella Okoh as Treasurer.

The outgone chairman, Joko Olanitori, reflected on the chapter’s commitment to impactful collaboration with governmental and regulatory bodies, driving meaningful security initiatives for a safer society.

She also celebrated member growth, including 30 new international members and 14 local affiliates, increasing total membership to nearly 400.

Mrs Olanitori highlighted the chapter’s leadership in student membership and certifications, noting an increase from 188 to 210 certified members, including five double and four triple-certified members.

ASIS Regional Vice President, Reuben Odum, administered the oath of office to the new leadership, urging them to build upon Olanitori’s successful tenure.

Chapter 206 contributed 82 per cent of membership to Region 11A, a testament to her focus on member engagement and certification.

The new chairman, Oduba, pledged to uphold high standards, foster collaboration, and advance policies beneficial to members.

He underscored the significance of the upcoming ASIS Sub-Saharan African Conference in Lagos in July 2025 as an opportunity for regional cooperation and another opportunity for the Lagos chapter to affirm its leadership and excellence.

The AGM also recognised outstanding members and industry partners with awards of excellence.

Among the awardees were Col Ademola Onalaja (retd), who bagged the Exemplary Leadership Award and Mrs Buduka Johnson who received the Chairman’s Award.

Notable attendees included Dr Ayodele Ogunsan, LSSTF Board Trustee; CSP Grace Erubuaja representing the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olanrewaju Ishola; ASIS International Board Member, Wilson Esangbedo; Regional VP, Mr Reuben Odum; Assistant Regional VP, Mr Peter Okoloh; ASIS Sub-Saharan Africa Advisory Council member, Dr Wale Adeagbo; and Mrs Tanwa Ashiru, Regional Lead of Women-in-Security, Mr Degbola Lewis, the Chairman, AGM Planning Committee.

With a strong foundation and clear growth roadmap, ASIS International Chapter 206 Lagos is poised to continue leading in security standards and professional development throughout the region.
