LIMA, REPUBLIC OF PERU, NOV 15 – His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, yesterday evening agreed to leave to attend the Bilateral Meeting with the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam , His Excellency Luong Cuong which took place at The Westin Lima Hotel and Convention Centre, Lima, Republic of Peru.
Leaving to accompany His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is His Royal Highness Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Mateen.
During the ceremony, His Majesty expressed his happiness at the first official meeting between the two leaders, and further congratulated His Excellency on his recent appointment as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
His Majesty also expressed his appreciation for His Excellency’s invitation to visit Vietnam, therefore His Majesty the Sultan is excited to visit the country again, with the hope of continuing to work on further enhancing the Comprehensive Partnership in areas of mutual interest.
Touching on the bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, His Majesty emphasized that the two countries share a friendly and close relationship, through people-to-people exchanges that have been nurtured over the years.
Political cooperation continues to develop and the action plan will outline the strategic direction in bilateral relations.
In this direction, His Majesty expressed his joy at the economic cooperation that is growing well, exceeding the trade target of US$500 million that was set in 2017, while proposing to set a new trade target that can be implemented to ensure the continuation of this excellent relationship.
