Bishop Carroll football's Dusty Trail retires from coaching

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Bishop Carroll Catholic High School football is saying goodbye to head coach Dusty Trail after 29 years with the program.

“I have a son that’s still part of the team,” said Trail. “So obviously, I’m going to come through him on. I told the kids today that for the first time in my life, instead of being a coach, I’m going to be a dad. And that’s a good feeling.”

Trail spent the last eight seasons as head coach, helping the team to three GWAL championships and the 2017 5A State Championship. He was also the offensive coordinator for 21 additional seasons. As an OC, he was part of the 2012 and 2014 state championship teams.

There’s no doubt that his legacy will forever be engrained in school history.

“Thirty years ago, I had no idea that I would spend the next 30 years of my life here at Bishop Carroll,” explained Trail. “That’s how much I love the community and how much it’s meant to me; what I’ve met other people, you know, I don’t know. I know what they’ve meant to me, and, you know, it’s been a good ride.”
