CLEVELAND, Ohio – Of all the crazy proposition bets you can sink money into, you have to hear about one in particular for tonight’s Jake Paul-Mike Tyson fight:
What are the odds that one fighter will bite the other’s ear during the fight?
The line is +900 for those who think Tyson will do it. If you think Paul will reach over and take a chomp, the odds go to +160.
Usually crazy prop bets have their heyday at the Super Bowl, when you can bet on everything from how long the singer will take to croon the National Anthem (over-under 2 minutes, usually) to what color Gatorade (purple on Andy Reid this year) will be dumped on a winning coach’s head.
But the reasons for the odd wager, of course, is that on June 28, 1997, Tyson did just that in a fight against Evander Holyfield. Tyson was annoyed at perceived headbutts. It was a rematch of a fight Tyson had lost months earlier.
Holyfield won on a disqualification, not surprisingly.
The fight is scheduled to take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas tonight – Friday, Nov. 15. It airs on Netflix.
Here’s hoping the bout will be ear-biting free.
