TUTONG, 15 NOV – With the grace and guidance of Allah SWT, 22190 Soldadu Norashiqin binti Hamdan from the Intelligence Directorate, Ministry of Defense has converted to Islam in a conversion ceremony today.
The ceremony also simultaneously celebrated his brother 53985 Laskar Mohammad Shafiee bin Hamdan, Royal Brunei Navy, who recently converted to Islam.
The ceremony was held at their parents’ residence in Kampung Pengkalan Dong, Tutong District.
Present as the guest of honor at the ceremony was the Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohd Sharif bin Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim.
Also present were members of the National Assembly, Honorable Haji Mohamad Danial @ Tekpin bin Ya’akub who is also the Penghulu of Mukim Ukong; Acting Tutong District Officer, Awangku Arif Anuar bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad; Ukong Village Chief, Awang Mohammad Hakimi bin Abdullah Gampar; Director of Islamic Dawah Center (PDI), Ministry of Religious Affairs, Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh; ABDB senior officers, officers from PDI, ABDB members and family members of the new brothers in question.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar, Surah Al-Fatihah and followed by the recitation of the holy verses of the Al-Quran, Surah Al-Mu’minun from verses 1 to 11 which was read by Corporal Awang Zulilmi bin Haji Julahia from the ABDB Religious Department (JAMA’ AT).
The ceremony continued with the recitation of the Dua Kalimah Shahadah by Soldadu Norashiqin led by officers from PDI, Tutong District. The ceremony was enlivened with the chanting of takbir three times, followed by the recitation of the Prayer of Islam by the Acting Director of JAMA’AT, Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Mujib bin Haji Japar and ended with Dikir Marhaban and the scattering of potpourri.
The ceremony also continued with the presentation of souvenirs by the Acting Commander of ABDB to Soldier Norashiqin and Laskar Mohammad Shafiee. The ceremony ended with the recitation of the Doa Peliharakan Sultan and Negara Brunei Darussalam, followed by a group photo session.
