The workweek ends on a warm note. This will carry over into Saturday with gusty winds from 35-45 MPH.
The strengthening flow will transport moisture closer to us and feed a rather strong storm system coming out of the southwest early next week. This feature will bring a fruitful amount of rain to Kansas from Sunday night through Monday evening.
A front dips south on Saturday. This has the potential to pop a few sprinkles and showers from central into eastern Kansas. It will be such a quick and spotty shot before departing.
More moisture will pool to our southwest on Sunday. It will track farther northeast through Kansas Sunday night into Monday.
There is some instability to work with to produce a few claps of thunder. Oklahoma has the better dynamics for a few severe storms as the main low pressure system tracks overhead on Monday.
Rainfall potential will be welcome from an inch or two with locally higher amounts above 3″.
Colder air will then sink southward.
Another system that churns in the flow will enable rain and snow showers on Tuesday night into Wednesday. Timing, track and temperatures will weigh heavily on this secondary system’s outcome. It does not look like it will have a lot of moisture to work with so any amounts will be light.
Much colder air filters our way for the remainder of next week with highs in the 30s and 40s with overnight lows from the 20s to the 30s. It will be a cooler shift and take up residency through Thanksgiving week.
