Woman dies after fallen-recliner crash in Edmonton

Article content

A recliner fell off the back of an older dark-coloured pickup truck going west on Yellowhead Trail, and the driver pulled over on the south side of the road, officers said.

Moments later, a Toyota Corolla, also driving west, slowed down but hit the recliner and was rear-ended by a Chevy Avalanche that did not stop, police said.

After the crash, the first pickup truck drove away, officers said.

The Corolla driver, a 46-year-old woman, was taken by STARS Air Ambulance to hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries. She died Tuesday, police said.

The Avalanche driver, a 79-year-old man, was taken to hospital by EMS as a precaution.

If you witnessed the crash, have dash camera footage of it, or know the truck driver, contact police at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
