CLEVELAND, Ohio — Kirtland defeated Columbia 41-7 in the Division VI, Region 21 regional semifinals on Friday night at Brooklyn Memorial Stadium.
The top-seeded Hornets are now 13-0 and seeking their eighth straight regional championship. They will play in the regional finals for the 15th straight time. The fourth-seeded Raiders finish the season 10-3.
Kirtland will face No. 6 Dalton (10-3) next week.
Danny Alfieri scored Kirtland’s first points on a 3-yard run early in the first quarter. He followed with another 3-yard touchdown run, then a 28-yarder to for a 20-0 lead in the first quarter.
Early into the second, the Hornets’ Max Paul found wide open Casey Carkhuff for a 23-yard touchdown. John Silvestro scored on a 23-yard run and brought the score to 34-0 to end the half.
Jack Lessick had an interception in the final seconds of the second quarter for the Hornets. The third quarter began with a running clock.
Alfieri scored his fourth touchdown in the third quarter. Columbia finally scored on a Jose Rivera 4-yard touchdown with 6:30 left in the game.
