The Longhorns (8-1, 4-1 SEC) continue their march to the College Football Playoff with an old rivalry with new scenery. A shot at the SEC Championship game and playoff positioning are at stake. Texas does not own a top-25 win on their resume but piling up road wins is helping the case.
Texas averages 38.9 points per game and are tossing 301.1 yards while rushing for 164.1 yards per contest.
Junior quarterback Quinn Ewers exploded back onto the scene with five touchdowns in the Longhorns’ rout against Florida. He has tallied 1,722 yards and 19 touchdowns with six interceptions this season. Ewers is completing 69.3% of his passes and has a touchdown in all seven of his starts this season.
Senior tight end Gunnar Helm leads the Longhorns in receiving yards, tallying 34 receptions for 461 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 13.6 yards per reception.
Junior receiver Isaiah Bond has 26 receptions for 435 yards and five touchdowns while averaging 16.7 yards per reception.
Texas’ run game doesn’t jump off the page, but it can do some damage. Sophomore running back Tre Wisner has racked up 81 carries for 409 yards and two touchdowns. Junior back Jaydon Blue has tallied 76 carries for 376 yards and five touchdowns.
Texas, which allows 12.1 points per game, enters the matchup No. 1 in the nation in defensive pass efficiency and No. 1 in pass defense overall, holding opponents under 150 yards per game. They have forced three or more turnovers in the three straight games.
Sophomore linebacker Anthony Hill anchors the nasty unit with 31 solo tackles, a team-high 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception.
The Longhorns have been coughing up free yards via penalties the past couple weeks. They will need to shore that up to squash any momentum, especially if the Razorbacks can keep it close at the half.
Texas leads the all-time series, 56-23.

The Razorbacks (5-4, 3-3) are battling for bowl eligibility and have a history of playing spoiler after taking down Tennessee earlier this year.
Since that marquee victory, Arkansas has been battered by LSU and crushed by Ole Miss. Both matchups exploited a shaky secondary. Arkansas touts the No. 11 toughest schedule in the FBS.
The Razorbacks rank in the top five nationally (483.6 yards per game) in total offense. They average 33 points per game while throwing for 292.3 yards and rushing for 190.9 per contest.
Arkansas junior quarterback Taylen Green is a streaky wildcard that has amassed 2,214 yards with 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Green touts a 61.2% completion percentage. He also has 411 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.
Razorback quarterbacks have been sacked a total of 25 times this year. Green has eight turnovers in six SEC games.
Senior receiver Andrew Armstrong is Green’s top target, recording 55 receptions for 857 yards and one touchdown, averaging 15.6 yards per reception.
Senior running back Ja’Quinden Jackson has not played since Oct. 5, but he is questionable. Jackson has amassed 104 carries for 592 yards and 10 touchdowns in seven games.
Junior running back Rashod Dubinion has picked up the slack, garnering 32 carries for 187 yards and two touchdowns.
The Razorbacks have been inconsistent in the red zone, which has cost them multiple opportunities. They are ranked 81st in red zone percentage. They will cherish any points in this matchup.
The defense went off the rails against Ole Miss, allowing a record-breaking 515 yards and six touchdowns. An encore performance would certainly bury Arkansas in the secondary once again.
The defense is allowing 26.3 points per game. Specifically, the Razorbacks pass defense (129th) is one of the worst in the country, which doesn’t bode well going up against Ewers and a hungry offense looking for CFP style points.
Arkansas won the previous two matchups by a combined score of 71-28. Those wins came in the 2014 Texas Bowl and the 2021 regular season.
