A steady breeze that maintained itself through the night helped to keep temperatures warmer. Starting from the 40s, we will see a pleasantly mild day with highs reaching into the 60s.
Across Kansas, it will be comfortable if a bit windy at times. Highs reach into the 70s particularly to the southwest.
Clouds will be a bit more prevalent today. A weak cold front will be draped across central Kansas, and this may serve as the focus for a few brief showers especially toward midday. Most of Kansas remains dry today.
Dropping to the 40s and 50s tonight near Wichita, clouds increase through the night. Colder air pushing into northwest Kansas drops those portions of the state below freezing.
Sunday starts with a cloudy sky and a few areas of drizzle especially to the west.
Highs tomorrow turn cooler owing to the gloomier sky, but some places should still get above 60.
A powerful storm system gears up to our southwest through the day Sunday, and by evening the rain will begin spreading over the state line.
Rounds of heavy rainfall go through the night into Monday morning, with a focus on central Kansas.
This continues into Monday afternoon, though there will be a few breaks here and there.
Rain begins to end Monday evening as the system crosses Kansas from southwest to northeast.
By the time it’s all said and done, many could come away with over two inches of rain. Trends in the latest data have suggested an eastward shift of the highest totals toward south-central Kansas. The far northwest corner of the KSN viewing area will see the lightest totals.
Cooler air spills in after Monday’s system, and most of the coming week looks to be chillier with highs in the 40s and 50s. Another disturbance passes by on Wednesday, and may be able to deliver a little more light moisture. Depending on the timing, temperatures may be cold enough to support a light wintry mix or snow shower during the night.
