Would you buy a used car from this man? — Orange Police Blotter

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio

Identity theft, fraud: Pike Drive

A resident came to the police station Nov. 14 to file a fraud report after he was contacted by a salesman at a Nissan dealership in Evansville, Ind. The salesman told him someone was trying to take out an auto loan in his name using his driver license and Social Security number.

Suspecting the loan inquiry was fraudulent, the salesman had tracked down the Orange resident through his LinkedIn account to warn him of the attempt.

The auto loan was denied and the would-be victim froze his credit as a precaution. He requested a report for documentation. He was also given an identity theft pamphlet.

Car crash: I-271 at Harvard Road

Police responded to a request for a motor vehicle accident report believed to have occurred around 7:30 a.m. Nov. 5 in the I-271 northbound lanes at Harvard Road.

The cars involved had pulled into the Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant parking lot by that time, with no further information on injuries or damage available at that time.
