BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, NOV 17 – The 11th Bilateral Cooperation Meeting between the Royal Customs and Excise Department (JKED) of Brunei Darussalam and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM), took place at a hotel in Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia, recently- recently.
Acting Comptroller of Royal Customs and Excise, JKED, Awang Muhammad Azizil Hakim bin Haji Brahim, and Director General of Customs, JKDM, His Grace Dato’ Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin jointly chaired the meeting.
The meeting was attended by senior officials of JKED and JKDM to discuss the latest developments of both customs administrations as well as issues of mutual interest to strengthen cooperation in various aspects.
This is especially in an effort to facilitate cross-border trade without neglecting the safety of the movement of goods at control posts as well as effective control to combat unauthorized activities such as smuggling of goods at the border and national waters.
In addition to the meeting, the JKED delegation visited the Malaysian Customs Academy (AKMAL) Langkawi and the Langkawi Customs Marine Base to learn more about the training facilities provided and to see the JKDM patrol area in the waters of Langkawi Island.
The Malaysian Customs Academy (AKMAL) is a Regional Training Center recognized by the World Customs Organization (WCO) to organize training and enforcement operations in waters.
The 12th Bilateral Cooperation Meeting between JKED and JKDM will be held in Brunei Darussalam in 2025.
