ISLAMABAD, NOV 18 – The Pakistani army yesterday confirmed that they had successfully repelled a terrorist attack on a security post in Kalat district, Balochistan province in southwestern Pakistan, which resulted in the death of six terrorists.
According to a statement issued by the Military Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani military, a group of terrorists attempted to attack a security force post in the Shah-e-Mardan area of Kalat on Friday night.
Following the attack, a fierce battle ensued, resulting in the death of six terrorists, while four others were injured, ISPR said.
The Pakistani army also confirmed that seven soldiers were killed in the battle with the terrorists.
The statement also mentioned that security forces have launched a clearing operation to eliminate any terrorists still in the area.
“Pakistan’s security forces, along with the people, remain determined to thwart all efforts aimed at damaging the peace, stability and progress of Balochistan, and the sacrifice of these soldiers further strengthens our resolve,” the Pakistani military added.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, strongly condemned the terrorist attack and insisted that strict action will be taken against the perpetrators of the attack. – Xinhua
