The RRP program fosters civic awareness

TEMBURONG, NOV 18 – A total of 140 Year 9 and Year 10 students of Sultan Hasan Secondary School, Temburong (SMSHT) attended the Information Youth Friends Program (RRP) which took place in the school hall, recently.

The program held by the Department of Information through the State Unit, Strategic Communication Section, Publication and Strategic Communication Section in collaboration with Temburong District Information Branch, District Branch Section and SMSHT aims to approach teenagers in schools so that they are aware of current developments.

The purpose is also to provide civic awareness, instill a sense of nationalism and social responsibility among teenagers and make students agents in spreading positive and effective information to their peers.

Present as the guest of honor at the program was the Acting Assistant Director, Department of Schools, Ministry of Education, Pengiran Ali Shafie bin Pengiran Haji Abas.

Also present were the Principal of SMSHT, Awang Helmy bin Haji Abdul Rahman, senior officers from the Information Department, senior school teachers and teaching staff.

The event started with the singing of the national anthem, God bless the Sultan and patriotic songs, National Flagand blessed with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Prayer for the Protection of the Sultan and Brunei Darussalam.

Briefing titled Our King, Living the Flag and National Anthem of Brunei Darussalam delivered by the Information Officer as Head of Temburong District Branch, Information Department, Dayang Izzah Hazirah binti Haji Adi Othman.

The RRP program was also graced with singing, dancing and sketch performances as well as comedy performances from SMSHT students and invited artists.

Sketch performance titled Deep Wounds bringing a message of awareness about the attitude of bullying that has a negative impact on the mental health of the victim of bullying.

While the joke is titled Viral and Vandalism highlight the wisdom of the students in evaluating something that is contagious whether it is suitable or not to be followed and how vandalism causes losses because it causes damage to property.

A National Quiz was also held to test the understanding of the students present about the briefing given at the beginning of the program. Presentation of souvenirs to quiz winners was presented by Pengiran Ali Shafie.
