WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Wichita City Council members will vote on Tuesday to approve funds to add a Holocaust memorial at Veterans Memorial Park.
The memorial will educate people about the history of World War II and memorialize the victims, survivors, and soldiers. Holocaust Memorial Monument, Inc. will pay for the monument.
“All that would be required of the city, in addition to approval of the site, would be about $1,500 in annual maintenance cost, and that’s grounds maintenance and electrical expenses for the lighting the memorial,” Wichita City Manager Bob Layton said.
The Holocaust memorial will built next to the Vietnamese American Community Memorial in the park.
