AKRON, Ohio – Akron Zoo’s popular holiday lighting events, Wild Lights, return for the holiday season on Nov. 29.
This year’s display features a refreshed look and boasts more than 1 million lights, according to the zoo. Zoo visitors can view the lights from 5-9 p.m. on the following dates:
- Nov. 29-30
- Dec. 1
- Dec. 6-8
- Dec. 13-23
- Dec. 26-27
- Dec. 29-30
The Grinch will be at the zoo each evening during Wild Lights and Santa will visit with zoo patrons through Dec. 23.
Wild Lights tickets range from $10-$18.50 per person and can be purchased online. Member tickets range from $8.50-$15. Tickets for children under age 2 are free. Purchase tickets online.
Sensory-friendly experience
The zoo will offer a sensory-friendly experience called Zoothing Wild Lights on Thursday, Dec. 12 from 5-9 p.m. This experience features no music, no flashing lights and smaller crowds. Tickets are separate from traditional Wild Lights tickets and a limited number will be available to minimize crowd sizes, according to the zoo.
Add-on experiences
The zoo is offering Wild Lights Safari Tours, featuring golf cart tours of the zoo. The tours are led by zoo staff and are 45 minutes long. Tour attendees will receive a light-up necklace and s’mores kit. Prices are for groups of up to five people and are $250 for zoo members and $275 for non-members. Available tour times are 5 p.m., 5:15 p.m., 6 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.
A Santa Express Safari Tour is available during event days at 4 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. These tours are the same as Safari Tours and also feature a private meet and greet with Santa. Prices are $300 for Akron Zoo members and $325 for non-members.
