BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 19 NOV – Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) has inaugurated the Mekar FinTech Innovation Center located in the iCentre Building, Kampung Anggerek Desa on 14 November.
BDCB in a statement issued here, stated that the launch of the center was completed by BDCB Managing Director, Hajah Rokiah binti Haji Badar.
The event attended by BDCB senior officers and stakeholders from the FinTech community began with a welcome speech from the Head of FinTech at BDCB, Haji Mohd Khairul Zaki bin Haji Mohidin.
In his keynote speech, Hajah Rokiah emphasized the role of Mekar FinTech Innovation Center as a catalyst for FinTech innovation by providing a platform for various FinTech stakeholders including entrepreneurs, industry experts, technology providers, academics and regulators to collaborate, drive innovation and help the growth of FinTech activities in Brunei Darussalam.
The establishment of the center is a strategic project under the Financial Sector Action Plan 2016-2025 and the BDCB Strategic Plan 2021-2025. The center serves as a platform for businesses to seek guidance on regulatory affairs as well as promote a level of collaboration and innovation among the FinTech community by providing modern co-working space facilities and dedicated event spaces for FinTech stakeholders.
