PARADISE — The town of Paradise is receiving quite a sum for sewer regionalization connection.
US Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) announced Monday that the Environmental Protection Agency is awarding $1.75 million to Paradise. The funding is through LaMalfa’s Community Project Funding program.
Paradise has been slowly rebuilding since the Camp Fire devastated the town in 2018.
“After the devastation of the Camp Fire, Paradise is making tremendous progress in their effort to rebuild, and this project is a critical part of that,” LaMalfa said in a news release. “Connecting to the regional sewer system in Chico will improve the quality of life for our residents and businesses, while laying the foundation for future growth and development. I am pleased to help secure this funding to strengthen our infrastructure and ensure that Paradise is built back stronger than ever.”
According to the town’s sewer project website, the cost is $233 million.
Paradise approved the right-of-way plan in April, which created a consistent layout for how to handle land easements for the sewer connection to Chico’s Water Pollution Control Plant on Chico River Road.
