SLIM RIVER, NOV 22 – A husband and wife and a man were charged in the Magistrate’s Court in Perak today on charges of drug trafficking weighing 51,974 kilograms on November 11.
Mohammad Amirul Samsudin, 27, and his wife Zaharah Farhana Zamri, 26, and their friend Muhammad Firdaus Nazeri, 25, nodded in understanding after the charges were read out before Magistrate G Phulrani Kaur.
However, no confession was recorded as the case was under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
They were charged with distributing 51.974 grams of drugs methamphetamine in the parking lot of a Slim Perdana Business Center, Jalan Perdana in the Mualim district at 3.35 pm on 11 November last.
If convicted, he can be sentenced to death or life imprisonment and if not sentenced to death, he must be whipped not less than 12 times.
The court did not offer any bail to the accused and set January 24 next year as the date for submission of the chemical report and mention of the case.
Last November 14, the Director of Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) Bukit Aman in collaboration with JSJN Perak and Perlis Contingent arrested three individuals including a couple in the parking area of a Slim Perdana Business Center.
The three individuals in question acted as transporter (sender) and the police found 50 plastic packages containing powder and crystals suspected to be drugs methamphetamine in a suitcase placed in the boot of a vehicle.
The syndicate’s modus operandi is to smuggle in drug supplies from neighboring countries and distribute them for the local market around the Klang Valley using land. – Named
