Nigerian NGO gets global recognition at Japan Expo

Nigerian NGO gets global recognition at Japan Expo

Nigeria’s Health Emergency Initiative has been named among 25 global organisations recognised by the Japanese International Exposition Association under the prestigious Best Practices Programme for Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

In a statement released on Saturday, HEI’s Executive Director, Pascal Achunine, described the recognition as a significant milestone for the organisation, noting its selection highlights the NGO’s commitment to addressing global health challenges.

Achunine said, “We are proud to announce that Health Emergency Initiative (HEI) has been selected as one of the 25 global organisations recognised under the Best Practices Program for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

“The programme showcases innovative solutions that align with the Expo’s theme: ‘Designing Future Society for Our Lives.’”

HEI’s project, titled “Transform Care, Train Responders, Save Lives,” will be featured at the Expo Pavilion in 2025.

Achunine disclosed that the initiative aims to revolutionise emergency care systems, with a focus on training responders and saving lives across Africa.

The selection process evaluated projects worldwide based on their impact, potential for regional development, and contributions to creating a better future.

Notably, HEI is the only Nigerian organisation and one of just four African entities to receive the honour.

Achunine emphasised that the recognition would provide a platform to showcase HEI’s life-saving initiatives on a global stage, enhancing its visibility and credibility.

“This recognition is expected to foster institutional funding partnerships, enabling HEI to expand its life-saving efforts across Africa. It also affirms our dedication to improving emergency response systems and saving lives,” he added.
