Two individuals were compounded for littering

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, NOV 24 – Two individuals have been charged by the Licensing and Enforcement Division, Brunei and Muara District Department, as a result of investigations and operations that were carried out separately on November 20.

In a statement issued by the Brunei and Muara District Department, here, it is stated that the two individuals in question have been imposed a compound fine of $3,000 and $1,000 respectively for offenses under Chapter 12 (1) of the Rampaian Offenses Act.

In relation to that, it is reminded to the individuals concerned to take lightly the offenses that have been charged and instructed to pay the compound fine immediately and to clean the area that has been turned into an illegal dumping ground.

If it fails, the case will be brought to court under the Criminal Offenses Act, which if convicted can carry a penalty not exceeding $3,000 for an individual, while for a company not exceeding $30,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 12 months or both.

The Brunei and Muara District Department would also like to request the cooperation of the public to channel any information about illegal dumping by including the address of the location along with photos via WhatsApp message, 8321581.
