CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio — The Chagrin Valley Rotary Club has named Chagrin Falls High School Senior Cam Mateyo as its November Student of the Month.
During his time as a swimmer for the Tigers — the senior has achieved All-Ohio status and has six individual Chagrin Valley Conference Titles.
While swimming for the Tigers, Mateyo has maintained his place on the district’s high honor roll. As an AP Scholar with Distinction, Cam has taken 10 AP Courses including — AP Physics 2, AP Calculus BC, AP English Literature, AP Spanish, and AP Statistics.
Additionally, Mateyo is part of the Chagrin Falls High School Link Crew. The Link Crew assists underclassmen as they transition to the high school experience. Cam also volunteers for Enpower Sports — an organization that provides sporting opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
Internationally, the senior serves on the board of the organization — Hearts of Guatemala which focuses on the humanitarian needs of the South American Country.
Next year the musician would like to pursue an engineering degree, while minoring in entrepreneurship to mesh his creative and analytical skills.
Chagrin Falls High School Principal Amanda Rassi believes that Mateyo is a great example of the CVRC’s Student of the Month. “Cam’s balance of academic excellence, athletic achievement, and community service embodies the Rotary’s principles of leadership and service above self,” Rassi said.
