BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, NOV 26 – The Employees’ Trust Fund (TAP) attended the 41st ASEAN Social Security Association (ASSA) Board Meeting held from November 25 to 27 in Manila, Republic of the Philippines.
With a theme Navigating the Future of Social Security: Integration, Innovation, and Inclusionthis meeting was hosted by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Republic of the Philippines.
Also present during the opening event of the ASSA Conference were the Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of the Philippines, Her Excellency Mrs. Megawati binti Dato Paduka Haji Manan; TAP Managing Director, Haji Mohd Adfarul bin Haji Maz Adanan, as well as TAP officers.
The event was filled with seminar sessions and best practice sharing in the social protection industry, which this year, TAP has delivered sharing on Introduction of Administrator Nomination Feature under the National Retirement Scheme (SPK) which is a method that allows SPK members to nominate nominee administrators who will manage SPK savings after the member dies.
The next day’s meeting agenda was chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) which also included the awarding of the ASSA Recognition to recognize the achievements of ASSA members.
TAP has been recognized by ASSA in the category Continuous Improvement Recognition Award through the project Introduction of Administrator Nomination Feature under the National Retirement Scheme (SPK).
The award was presented by the Chief Executive Officer of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Malaysia, Ahmad Zulqarnain Onn as Chairman of ASSA 2023/2024 to the Managing Director of TAP.
ASSA was established in 1998 and plays an important role in the development of social security in the region.
A total of 20 institutions from ASEAN countries have joined ASSA namely from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, the Republic of Singapore, Malaysia, the Republic of Indonesia, Thailand, the Republic of the Philippines, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
ASSA meetings are held every year and provide space for experts from member countries to share ideas and experiences on social security issues in the region.
The next 42nd ASSA Board Meeting will be hosted by Brunei Darussalam next year.
