A traveler was arrested earlier this month at Los Angeles airport (United States) with in his belongings a pajama suit bearing the image of an entirely cow. soaked in methand two suitcases filled with impregnated clothing of this drugAmerican justice announced this Tuesday, November 26.
The suspect checked two bags bound for Sydney (Australia) on November 6, according to a press release of the Ministry of Justice. Their passage through X-rays triggered suspicions among customs officialswho decided to inspect the suitcases. Inside, they found more than a dozen items of clothing, including an adult onesie that resembled a cow. They were completely rigid after being dried, and covered with white powder.
A kilo of methamphetamine found
Tests revealed that the fabrics had been soaked in a solution containing methamphetamine before being dried. The total weight of the impregnated clothing was approximately 32.4 kg, with more than a kilo of the drug contained.
The suspect, a 31-year-old California resident, was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. If tried, he risks between 10 years in prison and life in prison. Raj Matharu is currently in custody awaiting his trial on December 2, with bail of $10,000. (9,500 euros) requested for his release.
“Drug traffickers continue to invent more and more creative ways to smuggling narcotics with the aim of making illicit profits,” recalled Martin Estrada, federal prosecutor in central California, quoted in the press release.
