Reno County hires firm to help entice new residents; extends solar moratorium

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KSNW) — The Reno County Commission voted Wednesday to hire a website to help entice people to relocate to Reno County.

The website MakeMyMove.com serves as an online clearinghouse for communities offering incentives for remote workers to relocate. Multiple Kansas counties already contract with MakeMyMove.com.

The 1-year contract for $90,000 was approved on a 4-to-1 vote by commissioners.

In addition, commissioners unanimously approved extending the moratorium on large-scale commercial solar farms in Kansas, which had been set to expire Dec. 1. It will now extend until March 1, 2025.

Earlier this year, the commission held public meetings seeking public feedback on the issue.
